We know this cause is deeply important to you or someone you love. But do others know that? People give from the heart. Share your story about why this cause is important to you and then ask for support.

Here are some tips to get you started!

1. Write it down

Start by sharing your connection to the cause and the organization. Whether you have a personal connection or simply want to make the world a better place, your story matters. Writing it down will help you gather your thoughts
Share why you are participating in the run/walk and who is participating with you

2. A picture is worth a thousand words

When sharing your story by email, letter, or social media, include recent photos that represent why you care about this cause
If you have participated in another 5K Run/Walk fundraiser before, talk about that experience and share photos from the event

3. Talk about your goals

Share your personal fundraising goals and your team’s fundraising goals. Celebrate your progress!
List the ways in which your friends and family can support you – by making a donation, joining your team or fundraising on your behalf
Let your friends and family know how their support makes a difference, so they can see how important their contribution is, each and every year!

The most successful fundraisers share their personal story in a variety of ways – letters, emails, social media, personal websites and blogs, and face-to-face! It doesn’t matter how you share your story, it just matters that you share it. And then follow up with an ask.
